Hi there!
I'm Wilhelmina, a Ghanaian-British writer and editor with over five years of experience in professional publishing, working in commercial fiction for the past three years at Simon & Schuster UK, the Publisher of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
My passion lies in amplifying underrepresented voices, and I’ve had the privilege of working with talented authors like Elvin James Mensah, Damilare Kuku, Temi Oh, and Alina Khawaja. I’ve also collaborated with colleagues to bring some of the bestselling fiction of recent years to life.
Before joining the publishing industry, I taught English in Spain and South Korea for two and a half years, and have travelled excessively—almost 40 countries so far. My love for learning languages (though I’m fluent only in English) and my global experiences have shaped my taste in literature, leading me to appreciate translated fiction and approach my work with a broad, international perspective.
I’m deeply committed to supporting underrepresented authors, from editing early drafts to guiding them through the query process, helping bring their stories into the world.
This led me to start Midier Editorial: an inclusive publishing consultancy focused on bridging the gap between new writers and their boldest publishing goals.
After years of self-doubt, wondering what my value was within the trade publishing structure, I never wanted to feel that way again. I know my purpose is to help ensure others never have to doubt their talent, creativity and their place within the creative writing world.
